Hear Hear Carmel!
The treasured bits are especially priceless when they turn up after a long drought of information, often when you think you're really at a dead end! My grandmother is still alive and almost ninety two. Her grandmother was Mary Ann, daughter of John Dunlop. I'm constantly fishing for information as my grandmother remembers Grandma Mary Ann very well but mostly all I get to hear about is her fierce temper and what soft elbows she had!
My mother's aunt is also still alive at ninety-five and she's as sharp as a tack but will not divulge any information about our convict ancestors as 'skeletons belong in the cupboard where they can't harm anyone'!
But Heavens! What a grandly entertaining hobby this is - who on earth makes a claim to fame for burying an arm?
Cheers Maureen
