“OBITUARY
MRS. CAROLINE LEBNER
After a lengthy illness, Mrs. Caroline Lebner, a well known and much
loved resident of Corryong passed away at her home at 4 am. on Thursday
last, at the age of 79 years. The deceased lady was born at Adelaide
(S.A) and came to Vic 71 years ago. She married the late Mr. Charles
Lebner at Tungamah 56 years ago, and later the couple went to reside at
Walwa and settled on the land. When the Mt. Elliott gold rush broke out
they started a Butchering business at Mt. Elliot, and later shifted to
Corryong where they resided until death. The late Mrs. Lebners’ husband
predeceased her 25 years ago. She leaves a family of four sons and two
daughters viz. Mary (Mrs. W.C. McInnes), John, Henry, Charles, Robert &
Rose (Mrs. L. Klippel) for whom general sympathy is felt in their sad
breavement. A service was held in the Chuch of England by the Rev.
Kellow when the Dead March was played by her grand daughter, Miss
Shirley Lebner. Burial took place on Friday afternoon at 2.30, interment
being made in the Church of England portion of the Corryong Cemetery.
The cortege was followed by a large number of relatives & friends, and
many beautiful wreaths were received.”
Her parents were Frederick Schneider & Pauline Altman.
I know no more.......yet.
Haven't done a lot on the Lebner side.
