From Early Days in Bethanga and Springdale
p47-49
On 20 September 1876, Michael J. Keogh, a prominent member of the mining
community, forwarded to the Minister of Education a petition signed by
'parents and other residents at Bethanga' which requested the establishement
of a state School.
A signature on the petition was T. Allen also an Owen Ryan
p.77-78
The story of the Springdale school began quietly on 21 March 1882 with a
requst from the Board of Advice that a teacher be sent to
Springdale....(in) October when a petition was sent to Melbourne. .. Those
who signed the petition were: ...Allen (4 children)

On 20 October 1884 Thomas Allen was one of 9 signatures on a petition to
request a particular site for the school.
