Subject: What does this mean?
Date: Wed, 17 May 2006 12:18:12 +1000
Good Afternoon,
I have a gentleman (I'm being kind) who appeared in a court in north east
Victoria during the 1860s charged with illegally occupying crown land. The
appropriate
Cause List book tells me and I quote: 'remanded until the warden arrives.'
My question is who or what was the warden - no, I'm not asking for his name,
am more interested in his function and the warden of what - crown land?
Hoping someone can help.
Cheers
Anne H.
