It's a tad difficult to describe where it was but I'll try... but I have to
assume you know something of Albury and / or have a map. Thurgoona St runs
off the western end of Albury's main street, Dean St. At the northern end
of Thurgoona Street is a hill. Loma Loma was in the middle of the block at
the very top of the hill, bounded by Thurgoona St on the west, Grafton St to
the south, Lester St to the north, and Sackville St to the east. Loma Place
now runs to the south off Lester St, and I think was originally the old
driveway to Loma Loma.

I'd love a copy of that photo for old times' sake, if you're able to email
it to me off-list? Does it show the big old pine tree?

Colleen, the old house you have described near the present Union Bridge over
the Murray on the Hume Highway, was already falling down over sixty years
ago when I first noticed it. I don't think it is heritage listed, but Albury
Historical Society would be able to tell you about it. It's ironic that the
first building you see in NSW on the Hume Highway coming from Melbourne is a
derelict rat and snake infested ruin!.

Peter
