Dear Everyone,

On 30 Oct 1831 Summerland STANIFORD (1796 -1856 ) son of John
STANIFORD and Elizabeth KIRSOP married Lydia CHAPPLE daughter of Thomas
CHAPPLE and Lucretia Hunt PITFIELD in Axminster, Devon, England. They
had 7 children all born in Plymouth -Nathaniel, Lydia Pitfield, Eliza,
Mary Ann, Lucretia, Emma and Summerland.

Summerland and his family, except for Nathaniel, sailed from Plymouth on
04 April 1851 on the "Candahar" and arrived at Port Adelaide on 02 Dec
1851. Nathaniel had apparently come to Australia some 12 months
earlier.

Lydia Pitfield married John William WAKELING on 10 Feb 1857 in Holy
Trinity Church, Adelaide, South Australia

Eliza married John James COWING son of John James COWING and Sarah Ann
WHITE, on 22 Dec 1856 in Pirie Street Methodist Church, Adelaide and
some time later they moved to Melbourne where their first son John was
born in 1858. After the death of John, Eliza married Patrick William
LEGGETT, son of James LEGGETT and Eliza SOLE, on 28 Mar 1876 in
Victoria. (This was the first of Patrick's three marriages.)

Mary Ann married William WILLCOCK son of John WILLCOCK and Sarah
RAMSKILL, on 2 Jan 1860 in St. John's Church, Halifax Street, Adelaide,
South Australia. (This was John's second marriage.)

Lucretia STANIFORD died on 24 Apr 1858 in Melbourne, Victoria after the
birth of her daughter Maria Lucretia Russell STANIFORD.

Emma married Patrick Francis Neville QUINLIVAN, son of Patrick QUINLIVAN
and Eliza NEVILLE, on 26 Oct 1863 in Robe Town, South Australia. Over
the years they had numerous children who were born in various towns as
the family steadily moved east ending up in Lubeck to the north of
Stawell. After the death of Emma, Patrick married Mary EGAN of Marion,
S.A, the daughter of Martin EGAN and Bridget HAYES.

Summerland married Mary Catherine BAKER, daughter of George BAKER and
Catherine PATTERSON, on 26 Oct 1871 in Pirie Street Methodist Church,
Adelaide.

To celebrate the 150 anniversary of their arrival in Australia, we are
planning to have a family reunion

When: Sunday September 30, 2001.

Where: Uniting Church Hall, Main Road, Summertown.

Time: 2:00 to about 5:00.

Any and all descendants and/or family connections are invited to attend.

Please eMail me directly for further information etc.

Michael.
