The Open Air Concert
Not a single circumstance occurred to mar the success of the Natimuk School open air concert which was held on Friday night. A star dotted and cloudless sky, with not sufficient wind to disturb the flame of a candle and withal an atmosphere that was perfect, were combinations for which everyone was thankful. There must have been fully 200 people present and they were accommodated on seats taken from the school. The grounds were lit up with acetylene lamps, Chinese lanterns, etc. and the effect produced by these amongst the labyrinth of foliage and flowers was very pleasing. The school lawn, on which the band played, and where the maypole was danced and the physical exercise took place, looked at its best, and its trim appearance, encircled by beautiful flowers, spoke volumes for the excellent guidance of the head teacher and the interest taken by the scholars in the work of beautifying the school surroundings.
The vocal and instrumental numbers were given from the school verandah. Each item was a gem in itself, and was well received by the delighted audience. The physical culture exercises were done in perfect time, and with pleasing effect. The training of the children was highly creditable to Mr. WALKER and Miss HENDERSON. The instrumental items given by the Mr. E.W. and Misses SCHURMANN greatly pleased the audience, as also did the songs rendered by Mrs. WALKER and Miss BOYD.
Amongst the scholars two exceptionally good numbers were those by Master Colin BILSTON and Masters W. SUDHOLZ and W. MEREDITH.

The medals won by the best scholar in each grade were presented by Mr. W.J. SUDHOLZ, chairman of the school committee. The successful scholars stood in a row, and Mr. SUDHOLZ, with a few happy remarks, pinned the medals on each child. The following are the names of the scholars who received medals:--
Dux of school----Lionel LOCKWOOD
Seventh Grade--Clyde FENTON
Sixth Grade------Walter DUBBEN
Fifth Grade--------Alex BILSTON
Fourth Grade----Cecil BECKWITH
Third Grade-------Victor PETRIE
Second Grade---Mary ROWLEY
At the conclusion of the performance Mr. ROWLEY moved, and Pastor LOHE seconded, a hearty vote of thanks to all who had contributed to the success of the entertainment. Both referred to the good work done by Mr. WALKER since he had occupied the position of head teacher. Mrs. WALKER gave very valuable assistance by helping in the training of the children, and she also accompanied the various items.
