Hi there fellow listers,

This has really given me a kick start to look through what I have got on my bookshelves. I do not have the vast collections that some are fortunate enough to have accumulated obviously over many years but found a couple that may be of some use to others. They are all around twenty years old, so some of the details about contacts obviously will be out of date but other than that hopefully the information should still be useful.

1.. Family and Local History Sources In Victoria, Custodians of Records Blackburn 1983.
It lists various things but these two were what I found the most interesting.
Lists church records when they started in each district by denomination for burials,
marriages, baptisms.
Victorian cemetery transcriptions held at the AIGS and the GSV as at 1983.

2. Genealogical Research Directory,
Australasian Edition Part 1 and 2 1981
Regional and International Edition 1985
I know these are old but thought there may be someone that has finished
researching your family name that could be of some help.

3. A New History Of Australia, Edited by Frank Crowley 1984 reprint.
Lists events and items about more prominent people in our history.

4. We Discovered An Island, Stephen Yarrow, 1980
One of its interesting items is a list of how names were given and who by of the
coastal features of Australia .
Early Encounters 1606-1628
Shipwrecks and Exploration 1627-1737
Surveys and Settlement 1738-1814
Completing the Picture 1815-1939
5. Everyone Has Roots, Anthony Camp, 1978

6. Roots and Branches - Ancestry for Australians, Errol Lea-Scarlett, 1979

7. Tracing Your Family Tree, A.G. Puttock, 1981

8. Ancestors For Australians, GSV, 1981

9. Scottish Roots, Alwyn James, 1981

I am willing to do lookups in any of these books at any time, sometimes there may be a few days delay as I tend to have ongoing computer problems, but will do them asap.
