The Niel Black ((1804-1880) family descendants are still at Mt Noorat.
Niel Black was a pioneer, pastoralist and politician. There is a
detailed, very small print, one and a half page entry about him in The
Biographical Dictionary of the Western District of Victoria edited by
Gordon Forth. There is mention of Black's various agricultural
enterprises over a period and mention that he avoided employing convicts
but was known to employ aborigines.

If you are unable to get a copy of the book I am happy to photocopy the
entry and send snail mail if you send your address. I can also have a go
at scanning but the print is very small and definition might not be
clear.
