Hi everyone,

For those of you with Scottish interests....

The Scottish Archive Network <http://www.scan.org.uk/>; is undergoing a
revamp and has placed a new database online.

1852-1857 Highlands and Islands Emigration Society Passenger Lists
<http://www.scan.org.uk/researchrtools/emigration.htm>;
The Highland and Island Emigration Society was set up by private
subscription to alleviate destitution in the Highlands by promoting and
assisting the emigration of Highlanders to Australia. Their passenger lists
for the years 1852-1857 have survived and are organised by ship and by
family and record the name, age and residence of each emigrant (HD4/5) as
well as occasional notes on their health and situation.

The Virtual Vault has some interesting articles and documents.
<http://www.scan.org.uk/researchrtools/virtualvault.htm>;

This one is not ready yet, but should be great when it is!
Welcome to the Scottish Wills microsite.
<http://www.scan.org.uk/aboutus/WillsMicrosite/willsindex.htm>;
We are currently in the process of developing this site which will give you
free access to a comprehensive index of nearly half a million entries to
the testaments (wills) of Scots recorded in the Registers of Testaments
from the 16th century to 1875 - thus opening the door to an immensely rich
historical source which will be of value to family, local and social
historians alike.

Cheers,
-
