Dear Jane,
I would have to go searching so many files to find more about John Ford Strachan, BUT, he sold the vessel "Lillias" to George Bostock c.1855 ? This was subsequently lost in a storm at the mouth of the Hopkins just prior to his death in 1858. Jack Loney has written about this vessel, which was named after the wife of J.F.Strachan. A descendant of this Strachan family is married into other Bostock Descendants.
What's new !!!!
Thomas Edw.Bostock (2) of Geelong c.1880 was in partnership with Strachan & Shannon from time to time as Wool Brokers. This T.E.Bostock became Mayor Geelong in early 1900's.
Thos Edw.B.(2) was son of George Bostock's brother
Thos Edw. Bostock (1). "Bostock's Creek was named in honour of this T.E.Bostock (1) who was husband of Catherine Jane Mackersey - both Tasmanian families..
T.E.B. (1) owned a property named "Ion" in the region which I am not familiar with.
T.E.B. (1) managed properties for Peter Manifold of "Purrumbete" for many years until his death in 1874.
I hope this may be of some help to somebody...
Sincerely in Searching...Thelma (Bostock) Birrell at Maroochydore.

Dear Thelma,
I have had a drive past 13-15 Ryot St. There are currently two well presented,1900 Edwardian
style houses at these addresses. Could George and Ann Bostocks home in 1858 been set back
from the street, behind the present houses?
Thankyou for sharing your Diary on this list, it is of great interest, as are your web sites.
I wonder do you have any information about John Ford STRACHAN or William KEITH,
as we are researching an old building in Warrnambool which may have connections with
them, and possibly the BOSTOCK family.
Regards,
Jane

Hello Beryl and listers, I am wondering if anyone living in Warrnambool
today, would know what is built on the site at 13-15 Ryot Street,
Warrnambool. I think this was the property where George and Ann (Cox)
Bostock lived just prior to his decease in 1858....
I would be most grateful for any help in this matter. Although we visited
Warrnambool many times when I began this research, we never made the time to
locate this site... You help is appreciated...
