Continuing with Diary of AUGUSTUS BOSTOCK "Grasmere',
north of Warrnambool in the year 1858....

FEBRUARY 1858.

Mon 1 - Start reaping English wheat next to LATTA'S (Wm.) fence.
Put the pump in order.
Tue 2 - Reaping English wheat next to LATTA'S fence.
Wed 3 - Brought home some sleepers for the shed.
Thu 4 - To Belfast (Port Fairy). Party at Mr.RUTLEDGE'S(Wm)
Fri 5 - Home from Belfast.
Sat 6 - Measured up and paid off some reapers at Spring Farm.
Mon 8 - Thrashing Cape Barley.
Tue 9 - Thrashing Cape Barley and went to Ball at W'bool.
Wed 10 - Home and thrashing barley and oats.
Thu 11 - Ernest (BOSTOCK) drove Jane (nee MACKERSEY - w/o Thomas BOSTOCK) to
Warrnambool. Thrash wheat at LATTA'S.
Fri 12 - Cart oats to shed but too wet to finish.
Sat 13 - To Road Board meeting at W'bool. Stayed all night.
WHEELER (Wm or Jas) and TIERNEYS (Thos) at GRASMERE.
Sun 14 - Jimmy (BOSTOCK) came home with me. Mr. GORING
and Mr.PATERSON (Robert Brand PATERSON - bro in law)called.
Mon 15 - WHEELER (Wm or Jas) & TIERNEYS (Thos) started for Belfast.
Thrashing at LATTAS (Wm). Cart in last of the oats. Went to DOYS to see
about bullock team.
Tue 16 - Finished thrashing at LATTAS (Wm). Set machine down at Spring Farm.
Cart in wheat ready to start machine.
Wed 17 - Start thrashing at HOYS out of field.
Thu 18 - Thrashing at Spring Farm. Jimmy (BOSTOCK) called on way to MT
SHADWELL. (George built THE MILL there is 1856)
Fri 19 - Heavy rain. Jimmy (BOSTOCK) came from Mt.Shadwell.
Sat 20 - Thrash at Spring Farm. Put up cart shed.
Tue 23 - Put up partition in barn. Wet in afternoon.
Wed 24 - Finish thrashing at Spring Farm. Loaded DOY'S two drays ready to
start to W'bool. Brought machine home and tied her down ready to thrash
oats.
Thu 25 - Loaded two drays for Warrnambool.
Fri 26 - Thrashing wheat at Spring Farm. Put up posts of the cart shed.
Sat 27 - To W'bool. Tom (Thomas Edward BOSTOCK) drove Mrs.MACKERSEY (Ann
Harriett nee HEADLAM
wife of JOHN MACKERSEY of KENILWORTH at Hamilton)
Sun 28 - Returned home from Warrnambool.

So ends another month in the life of AUGUSTUS BOSTOCK of 'Grasmere' run.
