Hi Folks,

There were actually several schemes operating during and after both World
Wars.

The Red Cross ones mainly involved:
Parcels to serving soldiers
Parcels to POWs

Some information here ...........

http://www.redcross.org.au/aboutus_history_australia_default.htm
and
http://www.awm.gov.au/encyclopedia/redcross/redcross_bothwars.htm

and some on food / soldiers / rations etc.

I think the main post WWII one was in conjunction with the "Food for
Britain" drive .....

Although it was a government scheme many individuals and groups such as
Rotary etc. participated in this scheme at a local level.

An interesting article at .......

If you search "Food for Britain" under google there are heaps of references
to raffles and fundraisers for this.

Hope this helps ........ Susie Z
