Subject: Egan family at Mount Shadwell, early 1840s

I recently joined the list as I my father's family were early settlers in Western Victoria
One of my great-grandmothers was Eliza Egan, daughter of John Egan and Catherine Beckley. There is no birth certificate, but her date of birth (10 Dec 1844) is given on the record of her baptism on 2 May 1845 at the Presbyterian Church, Geelong. The baptism record does not state her place of birth.
Her place of birth is given as Mt Shadwell on her marriage certificate, and as Mortlake on her death certificate. Since Mt Shadwell (the hill) is near modern Mortlake, this seems to be consistent.
Does anyone have any information about settlement in the Mortlake area around 1844?
There are four other baptisms recorded on the part page for which I have a copy. As best I can decipher the handwritten records, these are:
John, son of William Fulton and Eliza Williams, born 3 May 1845, baptised 9 May 1845
John, son of David Boyle and Isabella Wilson, born 24 March 1845, baptised 12 May 1845
Phebe Anne, daughter of Charles Gundry and Martha Price, born 10 Jan 1845?, baptised 15 May 1845
Mary Anne Burn, daughter of Richard Howley Evans and Janet Burn, born 22 April 1845, baptised 25 May 1845
I can send a scanned copy of the document if anyone is researching these individuals.
