Hello All,
I am planning a trip to the Hamilton and Stawell areas in the next couple of weeks and wonder if anyone has any information that might help with regard to my family.
In the Stawell area, I have Daniel and Elizabeth Hume, GGG grandparents, who came to Australia in 1865 on the Chatsworth with 5 or 6 children. Daniel died in Moyston in 1882, but haven't found where he is buried yet. Elizabeth (nee Preston) died in Stawell in 1882 and is buried at Stawell cemetery along with two of their children, Charles Thomas and Elizabeth Janet.
My great, great grandmother Alice, Emma, Charles, Thomas, Robert came on the ship and I believe Elizabeth Janet was born in Victoria. Another child Victoria, an infant, I think died on the voyage.
Alice married Francis Goodrem in 1871 in Pleasant Creek and they proceeded to have 13 children, mostly in Pleasant Creek or Rupanyup. My great grandmother Isabella Annie (known as Annie) was born in Laen and married Neal Found who was born in the Beulah area to John Found and Jane Dick. His brothers and sisters were born in Lubeck and Roseberry.
If anyone has any further information or suggestions, I would be glad to hear from you.
Many thanks,
Tracey.
