Remembering many in our family but most poignant is:

WILSON, Pte. Richard Noble, 162. 7th Bn. Missing, later noted as Killed in
Action 25th April, 1915 at Shrapnel Gully in the early hours of the day.



Many of these have their roots in the Western district, but I have yet to
determine who, when and how...



Others who returned from WW1:

Richard's brother and my paternal grandfather: No:18; Pte; WILSON Harold
Edward; 2nd I.Bde.HQ.; 17/8/14; R.T.A; 20/10/15 and re-enlisted serving as a
clerk

Their father: WILSON, Harold joined unit 11th Reinf's /14th Battalion, 77
Coy in Seymour

My maternal grandfather: 994 Sergeant SMITH, Patrick James later Battery
Quarter Master (fought at Gallipoli and in France)

G-Uncle: SMITH, Laurence Owen (also fought at Gallipoli, and lost an arm
there, and in France)

G-Uncle: 20157 Driver SMITH, Thomas James 2 division ammunition column

His brothers-in-law:

G-Uncle: McSWEENEY, William Rank: Corporal

G-Uncle: McSWEENEY, John Michael

G-Uncle: McSWEENEY, Frank George Rank: Gunner



Died WW2:

2nd cousin: BACKHAUS, George Frederick: VX48328 (died as POW in Ambon,
Indonesia)



Returned from WW2:

G-Uncle: McSWEENEY, Edward (POW Singapore)

Father-in-law: STAINSBY, Herbert Denis Service Royal Australian Air Force
Service, 11621

Uncle: SMITH Bryan J



Served:

Uncle-in-law: STAINSBY, David Leonard, VX35422

2nd cousin-in-law: BACKHAUS, Myee Anzac (nee Boyd, wife of GFBackhaus):
Service Number - NF409179 : Date of birth - 25 Apr 1916



Did not serve, seconded to a secret communications project instead:

Father: WILSON, John Clune (I wish I knew more!)
