Yesterday I posted an email about my Bray connections in St Arnaud. I have
had some delightful replies and offers of help both off and on list.
This made me remember a book I have titled "Eucalyptus, Essence of
Australia" a limited edition of 350 books by Des Shiel published in 1985. I
once mentioned this book on I think the Victorian list many years ago and
offered to look up names from the extensive index. I had a long
correspondence with a family in the USA as a result. The book is "The story
of the Eucalyptus oil industry - and of the "eucy" men, and their
contribution to the Australian bush tradition."
If you had family involved in the "Eucy" industry and there is a chance that
might rate a mention in the book feel free to email me and I don't mind
looking up the index and passing on any relevant information. I do remember
that many of the people who asked before had no success but there is no harm
in trying. Lionel Bray of St Arnaud rates several mentions as do his father
and grandfather ie William Bray, father of the 20 children.
Now I had better answer those replies I have to my Bray posting. My wife
celebrated her 21st birthday again today so I haven't been able to spend as
many hours playing with the computer and answering emails as I usually
would.
