COUNTRY CRICKETERS : Bruce Rock Country Week cricket Team, 1920. Does
anyone have a better copy of tis photograph? The photo features two of
the writer's great-uncles, Walter and Lindsay BUTLER, and it is hope to

AUGIER : Great-grandparents Joseph and Gertrude AUGIER lived in a big
house in Angwin Street, East Fremantle, from about 1890. At one time
Joseph was the owner of the Park Hotel in Fremantle and is believed to
have owned a brewery on the river between East Street and the traffic
bridge in East Fremantle (the Red Lion?). Joseph and Gertrude had two
daughters, Gertrude (Mrs CLOUTT) and Florence (Mrs BLEAKLEY). Any

BYFORD : The Byford Progress Association has received a Lotteries
Commission grant to produce a pictorial history of Byford. Photographs
(to be copied and returned) of people, buildings and events in and
around Byford and Cardup over the past 100 years or more, are

COTTESLOE BEACH SCHOOL : The private school was operated by Miss Annie
Nisbet on a property called Avonmore in Broome Street, Cottesloe, between
1896 and 1900 before it moved to Irvine Street, Peppermint Grove. Does
anyone know exactly where on Broome Street it was located? Contact: R.

ERCEG CALLER : Hoping to hear from the 92-yearold unknown man who
responded to a notice published in this column (21/1) about the ERCEG
reunion that was held in March. He called about "Russian Joe". The

married in WA in the 1940s.

PRATT : Descendants of Kenneth Gordon PRATT who died on April 26, 1997,
are sought for family history. His family included Ken and Sandra and
children, and nieces Sue and Melissa.

RYAN : Michael John Ryan, who was living in Kalgoorlie in 1950s, is
sought by a cousin. His mother's name was Netta.

GRIFFIN : Looking for information about descendants of John GRIFFIN, son
of John and Alice (nee ROBERTS). He was born in Sydney in 1893 and later
settled in WA. He had a sister, Alice, who died as a child in
Sydney, and twin brothers Arthur and Charles who served in World War

CAPT. JOHN : Information is sought about sea captain, Ben JOHN. He
spent his earlier years on clipper ships and possibly died in the
1950s. The family lived in John Street, North Fremantle. Contact: J.

KORMORAN LIFEBOATS : Any photographs or memorabilia about the Kormoran
lifeboat landings in 1941, north of Carnarvon (17 mile and Red Bluff), are

LAMBERT : The family of Clive or Ross LAMBERT are sought. Studio
wedding portraits and other photos of their grandparents taken about 1910
have come to light. There are also wedding portraits of World War I

MANDURAH VOLUNTEERS : Mandurah Historical Society and Community Museum
are seeking new members. The historical society operates from Museum
House at the rear of the museum, 1 Pinjarra Road, Mandurah. Volunteers

MURRIN MURRIN : The writer's grandfather, Robert EVANS, was manager
of Mt Malcolm Mines Ltd, the largest company in the Murrin Murrin area
about 1900 until it closed at the end of 1908. Any old photographs or
information about the various mines and people of the area would be

OLD MILL EVENT : The City of South Perth Historical Society's next event
will be held at the Old Mill Theatre, Mends Street, South Perth, tonight
at 7pm. Guest speaker Lloyd Margetts is the Main Roads Inspector of
Bridges and will talk about the history of the Causeway, Canning

PETCHER : Thomas PETCHER, of Shackerston, England, is believed to have
come out to Australia with the HALL family as a servant. The
HALLS arrived in WA on the Protector on February 20, 1830. Information

SAUNDERS/DAVIS : Abraham Davis was lost at sea on the S.S. Koombana when
it sank en-route to Broome from Port Redland in 1912. A memorial notice
was published in the local newspaper from "his sorrowing
nephews Monty, Joe and Albert SAUNDERS". The latter are believed to be
descendants of Moses and Deborah (Laura) Saunders, and their family are

VETERANS

16TH BATTALION AIF : ARCTIC CONVOY VETERANS ASSOCIATION : The
association is seeking Australian veterans who served on the convoys to
Russia between 1941 and 1945 -
includes RAN, RAAF, RAF, Merchantmen, DEMS and Maritime
Artillery. It is proposed to erect a national memorial to perpetuate
their service in the waters of the Arctic. The association also welcomes

EXTREMELY DISABLED WAR VETERANS' ASSOCIATION OF WA : Their general
