BIRCH : More than 70 years ago Harold BIRCH and J. W. (Jack) HUNTER worked
together in the Hunt Road blacksmith's shop in Beverley. Jack HUNTER's
grand-nephew is arriving in Perth from Ireland on July 29 and hopes to meet
any members of the Birch family who lived in Beverley at that time, or

BORG/WOOLHOUSE : Information is sought about descendants of Carl Andreas
BORG and Enid WOOLHOUSE, who were married in Kalgoorlie on August 15, 1923.
They had a daughter, Joyce Irene Louise. Names connected include Harry and

COTTAGE IN AUGUSTA : Does anyone have a photo of a little cottage called
Ivanhoe which used to be situated opposite the Augusta Hotel? For many

ELSON : Seeking the families of Walter John (Jack) ELSON, who married Sarah
Francis BELL. Their sons were George Henry Bell ELSON, Robert Cyril Bell

ROYAL WA HISTORICAL SOCIETY : The Royal Western Australian Historical
Society's library, museum and bookshop has extended its opening hours from
July to 9.30am until 5pm Monday to Friday for public access — for a year's
trial. The society's library has an extensive range of books, maps,
journals and documents relating to WA's history, as well a big collection
of photographs. This is possible through the support of an increase in the
annual administrative grant from the State Government through the

STEPHENSON : Information is sought about descendants of George Montgomery
STEPHENSON and his brother Francis Leslie. George married Jessie Agnes
HAMILTON in Kalgoorlie in 1902. Their children included George (b.1903) and
Fanny Louisa May (1905). Francis served with the 11th battalion in World
War I and his address on enlistment was c/- Post Office, Meekatharra. He
returned to Australia on June 17, 1918. A third brother, Robert Henry (the
writer's grandfather), eventually settled in SA. They were the sons of John
and Sarah Louisa STEPHENSON (nee SAUNDERS). It is known that John worked on

BCOF (JAPAN) : The fourth annual reunion of BCOF Kids (children of armed
service members of the British Commonwealth Occupation Forces who lived in
Japan during the post-World War II occupation (1947-52) will be held at the
Canberra RSL during the weekend of March 4-5, 2006. The reunion will
coincide with BCOF 60th anniversary observance celebrations in Canberra on

DENMARK PROJECT / McNABB : Isabella McNABB of Denmark, circa 1919 was
attending to the estate of Nurse Florence MACKENZIE, who died at Day Dawn
in 1919 as a result of being gassed during World War I. Hoping to hear

VP DAY : BATTLE OF LEYTE GULF 1944 : Calling survivors of HMA ships
Australia, Shropshire, Warramunga, Arunta, Gascoyne, Manoora, Westralia,
Kanimbla and HDML1074; crew members of the attached merchant ships
Bishopdale, Merkur, Poyang and Yunan; and members of the 1st Australian
Bombardment Group RAA (embarked). Together with relatives of the deceased,
and members of the US Navy then serving with the US 3rd and 7th Fleets and
now resident in WA, you are invited to combine as a special unit in the
Naval Association of Australia's contingent to march under the colours of
Australia and the United States in the forthcoming Victory in the Pacific
veterans march in Fremantle on Sunday, August 14.
Those attending are asked to muster on Fremantle Oval at 0930 and look

VETERANS & SERVICES

2/4TH MACHINE GUN ASSOCIATION : Members, widows, families and friends are

AUSTRALIAN ARMY TRAINING TEAM VIETNAM ASSOCIATION WA : A commemorative
