CAN YOU HELP? : Monday, April 10, 2006 (The West Australian p33)
ALBANY FISHING DISPLAY : The Albany Boatshed in
Princess Royal Drive, Albany, is developing a
fishing heritage display to complement its wooden
boatbuilding activities. The display will
highlight aspects of the fishing industry in
Albany and on the South Coast Seeking
photographs, film, letters and documents relating
to the early estuarine fishery, which began in
the late 19th century, and to the salmon fishing
industry, which began after World War II. The aim
is to copy these paper-based items for display.
Objects which directly relate to the same
fisheries are also sought. Contact: John Gates,

BEVERLEY DEDICATION : The Beverley RSL sub-branch
in co-operation with the Shire of Beverley will
dedicate the new war memorial in Beverley on
Thursday at 10.20am. The RSL Memorial Hall at 50
Forrest Street Beverley, will be open from
1.15pm. This will be an opportunity to see the
improvements to the hall (thanks to a Lotterywest
Grant) and a small display. Refreshments on sale
and nibbles. All welcome. The town will also be
holding its annual Easter Show and the Dead

COUNTRY CALLING
OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CHURCH, KOORDA :
Priests and past parishioners are invited to join
the church's golden anniversary celebrations to
be held in Koorda on Sunday, September 17. The
day will commence with Mass at 10.30am followed
by lunch in the Recreation Hall. Photographs (to
be copied and returned) would be appreciated for

EDWARDS/HEWITT : Hoping to hear from the children
of Jack EDWARDS. Jack (John) was born in 1908.
His son (first name unknown) attended CBC in
Leederville and would be about 69 now. A reunion
gathering for descendants of Francis and Mary
Kathleen HEWITT (nee O'DONNELL) who were married
in Coolgardie in 1901 will be held on Easter
Monday. Francis HEWITT died in Sunset, Nedlands
in 1953. Children of Francis and Mary were James
Patrick (1901), Mary (m. PETHICK), Francis (1905)
and John (1908). All descendants are asked to get

McCOLL : Seeking information about the life and
times of Charles Frederick McCOLL, formerly of
Carlisle, who died in 1971 aged 80. Charles was a
veteran of the battle for Bullecourt, France, in
April 1917. He wrote an account of the last
sighting of the writer's relative E. R. DALZIELL
who was killed-in-action in that battle (National

MISSING MEMORIAL PLAQUE : William Herbert WISE
(No. 2169) served with the 44th battalion AIF and
was killed-in-action on July 4,1918, at
Villiers-Brettoneux, France. His bronze memorial
plaque, scroll and 1914-18 star medal were sent
to the writer's grandmother Eliza Ann ANDREW (nee
WISE) in 1922-23 and were last seen in Albany
after her death in 1947. They may be held by a
collector. Any information about these items

NAVAL HISTORICAL SOCIETY : The WA chapter of the
Naval Historical Society of Australia will host a
talk by Ron Fletcher about the Dampier Port
upgrade and the role of ship Simulation to be

PORONGURUP PROPERTY : A history of Bolganup
Homestead Porongurup is being written in
preparation for the 100-year celebration of the
FAULKNER family's life at Bolganup. Contributions
of photos, memorabilia, letters or oral histories
from earlier settlers' families or other local
families as well as the Faulkner clan will be
warmly welcomed. The Bolganup celebration is
planned for the long weekend in March 2008 and
all early settlers at Bolganup, especially the
GILLAMs, are invited to join in the planning and

TINGLEDALE FIRST SETTLERS : Past residents of
Tingledale, descendants of pioneering families
and anyone interested in local history are
welcome to commemorate the first settler families
who migrated to Tingledale Group 116 from 1924 to
1931 at a celebration to be held in the
Tingledale Hall on Easter Sunday at 1.30pm. A
plaque will be unveiled dedicated to the first

WICKEPIN DISTRICT GROUP BUNBURY CAMP, MAY 1916 :
The writer is researching the military history of
Private James Thomas FISHER (No. 328) of the 4th
Reinforcements, 4th Machine Gun Company, 4th
Brigade, 4th Division, AIF 1916 to 1919. Hoping
to hear from any relatives of Private Edward
KNIGHT (No. 330). Edward was born in Gympie in
1892 then moved to South Terrace, Fremantle, with
his parents. James and Edward joined up together,
trained and went to battle in France together and
they were together when Edward was killed and
James captured in the first Battle of Bullecourt
on April 11,1917, at a place called Emu Valley.

served in Malaya 1957-59 in 3 RAR interested in
attending a reunion to be held in Tweed Heads,

the 50th anniversary of 3 RAR's departure from
Sydney on the HMT New Australia in September

2/13TH FIELD AMBULANCE ASSOCIATION : Members
planning to march are asked to assemble at Stand

2/32ND BATTALIOn : Returned soldiers from the
2/32nd Battalion and family members of 2/32nd old
soldiers are invited to assemble in St Georges
Terrace and march behind the 2/32nd banner on
Anzac Day. Families are also invited to an
informal gathering for lunch at the Ruth Watson
playground at Kings Park (entry off Kings Park Rd

AIR TRAINING CORPS/AUSTRALIAN AIR FORCE CADETS :
All former cadets and instructors are invited to
join the Perth Anzac Day march with the AAFC
branch of the RAAF Association. A lunch will

DEFENCE RESERVES ASSOCIATION : Are you a former
member of the CMF or the Navy, Army or Air Force
Reserve and would like to pay your respects by

near Sherwood Court (look for the banner).
Members wishing to visit their old unit after the
parade should leave their name at that unit's

DANCE FORMATION TEAMS (1980-81) : A reunion for
the Perth formation teams 1980/81 coached by
