Peter,

As Tracie said, Rookwood is h-u-g-e, and I mean h - u - g - e. Yes,
there is a Government bus service which runs through Rookwood and there
are a few bus stops within the cemetery grounds..

But, it isn't the sort of place one can just tramp around easily.

Lidcombe station would be the closest. Strathfield station isn't too
far away - and Auburn station is an option.

Don't attempt to walk from Strathfield !! It is several km to the
nearest gate at Rookwood.

Walking time from Lidcombe station to gate (and I stress, gate) at
Rookwood possibly 15-20 mins ?? (not sure) - bus is a sensible option.
Then from the gate, to the Catholic bit, um, possibly the same or more
to the office, then all the walking around the several large Catholic
sections.

I typed "rookwood bus" into Google and came up with Route 918 bus and a
timetable.

Hope this is a bit helpful - hope when you get there you find headstones
for your lot rather than just a grassy plot.

Alison :-)
