Hi Ken,
Noted you inquiries re Wilson/Risk. There were two prominant Wilson
families who settled at Lismore. One was William Wilson whose son was
Henry O'Brien Wilson (named after his uncle Henry O'Brien, husband of his
mother's sister. He had property at Yass). William is recognised as the
first land owner of Lismore, which was named by his wife after her home in
Scotland. William originally took up 36 sq. miles of land in 1843.
There was also a large Wilson family who settled near Lismore and they
named their property The Risk (The area is still known as The Risk to-day.)
The Richmond River Historical Society at Lismore has some good written
material on both families- but much more on William Wilson (the father of
the City).
I would be prepared to look this up for you but could not do it until at
least August because of some exacting commitments I have. The Historical
Society would also help but at a fee. Their address is Molesworth Street,
Lismore.
