Old Rome was a hamlet about 3 or 4 miles from the town of Kilmarnock
on the road between Kilmarnock and Dundonald. .
The location was on the south bank of the River Irvine with the village of
Gatehead on the north bank.
I do not think that The old Rome hamlet is still in existance, but of course
somebody may know different. But I do know the Old Rome farmhouse
has been converted into a Country Hotel and restaurant.
