Hi folks
I'm pleased to join such an active and friendly sounding list. And wouldn't
it be nice to get lucky?
The chain of evidence is broken with the birth records of David and Robert
WHITEFORD, sons of Robert WHITEFORD and Janet FAIRLEY in 1775 and 1782
respectively. In the parish register of Beith, there are no WHITEFORD
entries between these two baptism records and the marriage of 'Robert
WHYTFOORD in Dalray' more than a century earlier. The similarity of this
name to that of known WHITEFORD ancestors motivated a search of the Dalry
parish register in the chance that a specific link could be found. No joy!
Robert WHYTFOORD 'of Dalray' and Elizabeth BIGGART married in Beith June 9th
1660. Finding their descendants or any prior record of Robert WHITEFORD or
Janet FAIRL(E)Y will open up my biggest Ayrshire problem. The 1785 baptism
refers to this couple 'of Stewarton' so I expect to search the relevant
microfilm shortly.
Meanwhile, anyone interested in this line or haveing related information is
welcome to contact me. I'm happy to share.
