Re your question on FamilySearch, this is a quote from an LDS booklet by
Elizabeth L Nichols, A.G (March 1994):

"FamilySearch is a set of genealogical programs and data files on
compact disc that can be used on a personal computer with a compact disc
drive, or on a computer network. It is published by The Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS, Mormons, Genalogical Society of Utah)
and is available at the Family History Library in Salt Lake City, Utah,
and at most of its over 2,000 family history centers worldwide, and at
many other libraries".

It covers Ancestral File, IGI, Scottish Church Records, Social Security
Death Index etc, and is a very helpful computer program. I hope you
find what you're looking for.
