Hi Karen,
I noticed on the Scottish news this evening, Feb 2nd, a news item regarding
the Sisters of Nazareth caught my attention. A diary belonging to a child in
the care of the sisters is to be searched for amongst the stonework of the
Aberdeen home he was living in 40 years ago. The writer of the diary is one
of 500 people who were former residents of four homes run by the Sisters of
Nazareth and they are suing the Roman Catholic church for compensation for
the sexual, physical and mental abuse they suffered while in the care of the
sisters. The diary contains details of a catalogue of abuse which the writer
could not re read after he had written it. He hid the diary in an attempt to
blot out the memory of what happened to him.
The locations of the four homes are Aberdeen, Glasgow, Kilmarnock and
Midlothian.
Cheers,
John Andrews
