Hi Glennis,
Thank you for your email......I have done lookups in the past and
every once in a while another request comes through probably due
to people viewing the Ayrshire List Archives. I like to send a
copy to the list so that the details are also available in the
Archives.
There is one NIELL
#93 Old Section
Erected by MARION NIELL to the memory of her deceased husband viz
JOHN THOM late wright in Joppa d 20 May 1816 aged 45; the above
MARION NIELL d 3 Sep 1846 aged 77; also to the memory of MARGARET
and JANE HOOD d young daus of WILLIAM HOOD son-in-law of the above
deceased
BUT there is another that you may find interesting
#91 Old Section
Erected by JAMES BOWIE merchant Glasgow in memory of his mother
AGNES PATERSON d 25 Mar 1845 aged 40; also of her children SARAH,
AGNES, and MARGARET M who all died when young; and ANNIE McNEILLE
d 27 Oct 1870 aged 30; also of WILLIAM McNEILLE d at The Knowe
13 May 1884 aged 82
You might want to seek your William NEILL in the 1881 Census and
see if he was at 'The Knowe' and if so then the 1884 death cert
will give you his parents names.....it is curious as to the
relationship between the BOWIE children and mother to the two
McNEILLEs.......
Hope this helps,
Lois
