Has anyone out there access to any trade directories etc from the end of the
last century.
My great grandfather , James Alexander, was a china merchant in Muirkirk,went
out of business due to his brothers gambling,but I know little else about
when the business started and ended or even the names of his brothers.
I have so far placed him in Muirkirk around 1871 but I dont know if that is
the original business address. He came from Ireland originally where the
family also had a china trade, but again no further information is
forthcoming.
Any information on him or his business will be greatly appreciated
