Hello. I am researching my heritage and am told by different sources
that the Hieatt's in England originated in Highgate, Ayrs, Scotland. But
they were called Highet not Hieatt. So far in our research my family has
gone to 1476 in England. Can anyone offer any supporting evidence or
know of sources where I can study the transition from Scotland to
England? I guess I should add, the reason (I was told)they left Scotland
was to avoid persecution from the Catholics. Thanks!
