Hello,
Thought I'd try another post about my MUIR line. Just learned some new info.
Does this sound familiar to anyone?
George Muir b. approximately between 1826-28 and died 1883. He was a schoolmaster and taught shorthand and
typing in Scotland. He married Mary Young as he was on his way to the boat to come to this country. She was
16. He sent for her two years later.
George Muir was an only son but had several sisters. The sisters were married and moved West settling in
Iowa. They took out homesteads and asked any of the 5 Muir boys (George Muir's children) to go out and
settle also.
George Muir's father ran a feed store in Scotland. George Muir fell for Mary Young whose father was a
baker. George was told if he married her he would be disinherited. He married her and his father left his
money to the housekeeper.
Sound familiar to anyone?
thanks,
