I am not sure who posted the original question about lace making in
Ayrshire, but there is a publication called ODYSSEY - the Second
Collection - Voices from Scotland's recent past which has a 10 to 12 page
article headed "UP THE VALLEY " specifically referring to Lace Making in
the towns of Galston, Newmilns and Darvel. It is edited by Billy Kay and is
based on a series made by BBC radio on the oral history of Scotland. It was
first published in 1982 byPolygon Books, 1 Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh,EH8
9LW and the ISBN is 0 904919 55 2.
