I just wanted to thank Betty Publicly for the important information she's
provided to me in the last 2 days. Without her lookups in her book, I
wouldn't have access to this information.

I know my Dunlop family was associated with Midland farm, Fenwick, starting
at least in 1864. It sounds like the name James was passed down in at least
one line for 4 generations, but I'll have to corroborate this. Seems to be a
habit in my family, as my cousin Paton (5th of that name) well knows. :)

I'm thinking that Midland farm may have been created when several smaller
older farms were consolidated, which during the late 1800's was occurring
rapidly at Fenwick (and all other areas too). Small farms just couldn't
compete any longer.

Hello Jim. having another browse at James Dunlops book will copy the
paragraph exactly as in book.
Among those we visited are the widow and family of the late Matthew Bicket
who died a few months ago and who before Emigrating wrought with his father
as a shoemaker in the Waterslap, Fenwick and was for some time with my
father in Midland. Mrs. Bickets father John Boyd when in Gainhill Fenwick
was a noted ploughman. Regards Betty
