Jim, I will copy this bit out as it is written in the book '"When I
was in the Bega District it was my privilege to have the company of my
fathers old friend Mr. Robert Stevenson a native of Fenwick before leaving
Fenwick in 1854 Mr. Stevenson was well known as a ploughman at Little
Fenwick and manager at Aitkenhead He relates that when at little Fenwick
with my Maternal Grandfather who owned a gig and kept the fastest horse in
the Country he drove the great professor Candlish from Kilmarnock to open
the free church in Fenwick.Robert Stevenson said One of the greatest heroes
he had meet was the Late Andrew Gemmell of Aitkenhead whom he had assists in
nursing during his last illness Robert then went on to speak of the Rev Orr.
Shortly after Mr. Stevenson and my Uncle James Dunlop arrived in Melbourne
They gave assistance to establish a farmers Society them both having been
involved in the Fenwick Farmers Society . That's the end of that bit. will
browse thru for more tomorrow Betty
