Hi there Aria (?)

You are undoubtedly talking about John Kincaid or Kinkeith from the farm of
Chilcarroch in the parish of Mochrum, county of Wigtownshire.

In 1684, as part of the campaign against the hardline Cameronian
Covenanters, the Government asked the prelates which they had imposed on the
covenanting parishes of South West Scotland to draw up lists of all
residents over the age of 12, and to identify those whom they considered to
be Disorderly Persons, ie supporters of the Cameronian Remnant.

Henry Walker, the imposed prelate of Mochrum parish, included in his list of
Disorderly persons "John Kinkeith in Challcarroch, with his wife Janet Dun
and Janet Hannay her mother"

In the 1684 Parish List several other Kinkeiths were at the same address (ie
Lands of Killantrae).
These were William Kinkeith, his likely wife Mary Gill, and likely children
John and Samuel Kinkeith. Gill will be McGill.

An Agnes Kinkeith, likely married to James Lilburn, was at Drumskeog in the
same parish.

Hope this of help to you

Big Bill
