Many thanks to Linda for the IIGI information and also to Jo Ann for the 1881 census. Jessie Irvine is my great-grandmother. She married Adam Scott in Ayrshire. Alice C. Irvine is her sister. There is an 18 year age difference between the sisters, which is why I was having such trouble finding both of them in the same household. Many thanks as you have helped me solve a genealogical problem that I have been working on for 5 years.
