Hi All

I have just discovered that a DAVIE ancestor of mine married John Robert FAIRLIE, who was born in Galston, Ayr in 1829.

John Robert FAIRLIE married Jane Howe DAVIE in Anderston, Glasgow on 27.10.1869.

On the 1881 Census they are living at Treesbank House, Riccarton, Ayr. John Robert FAIRLIE is listed as age 57, Col Retired Indian Army and they have 2 children; William Edward, 6, born Glasgow and Edith Maude, 2, born Maybole, Ayr.

I checked the IGI and John Robert FAIRLIE's parents were:-

James FAIRLIE and Agnes Maria FAIRLIE who married in Galston, Ayr on 8.4.1821. They had 14 children between 1823 and 1844!!! (Must have lived in a big house!)

Does anyone know whether "Treesbank House" still exists in Riccarton?

Any other information about the FAIRLIE family of Galston would be much appreciated.
