Thanks Alexander for the David Taylor info.

I did think he was "the one" until I downloaded the Death Cert from
Scotlandspeople on 13 Feb 1899 for David Taylor, Muslin Weaver (Single) of
69 years (therefore born around 1830) whose parents were James Taylor
(Muslin Weaver, deceased) and Minnie Taylor ms McCallum (deceased) - but the
Register entry states that David was Single.

I had a look in the 1891 census and found a David Taylor aged 58 living at
17 Henrietta Street, Galston with William Taylor aged 48 - both bachelors.
David a Railway Bridge Porter, and William a Coal Miner, both born in
Galston.

From the IGI records James Taylor and Meney/Minnie/Mary McCallum had 4
sons - James, John, David and William - so the above 2 records could be the
same family - unfortunately not mine.

The David Taylor I am looking for was married to Agnes Pollock - as recorded
on the son's marriage certificate. Their son, also David Taylor, married
Maggie Boyes on 31 Dec 1883. David was residing at Standalane Street,
Loudoun and Maggie at Wallace Street, Galston at the time of marriage. I
have found a marriage on 13 Oct 1849 of Agnes Pollock to David Taylor at
Galston.

So will keep on looking.
