Good Morning,
Mocking Birds and Robins have young and caps on head are recommended in
back yard this morning.
Agnes Mccall at Townhead Farm, Kirkcudbright has a holiday cottage for
rent for anyone needing a place to stay this summer. Tel # (01557)830209.
Found out the Dalziels live on a 60 acre farm in Sanquhar called Sanquhar
Castle, Castle Mains or Castle Farm. This is likely where Andrew Mccall lived
in 1500's.
Received a nice photo of Kenmore on Loch Fyne that I will post with
Sarah's permission. It is a small village that was home in 1808 to Evan McColl,
"The Mountain Minstrel" and has a monument there since 1930. From such a small
village so many Mccall's can find their roots. Also is burial site for many
sailors that died of cholera? Angus MacMillan still has an aunt that lives there.
Received recommendation to purchase "Old Sanquhar" at the tourism office on
High Street and to visit the Tolbooth to find more about Sanquhar Castle.(
Caution about nearby Tea House) Still doesn't say why Douglas preferred Sanquhar
to his newly completed Drumlanrig. Picture of castle is on website (1890's?)
Still looking for lands of Whitmes and Eschetho near Girvan in 1124,
possibly Culzean site? Lavonne is visiting Isle of Man this summer.
Wigtown Press BMD's issued this week for January 31 1878 has two Mccalls
with silent C.
