I am looking for the birth record of Thomas Gibson born in Scotland about
1809-12. I have searched all of Scotland on the IGI and BVRI2 and have
three potential matches, all of which are in Ayrshire. Any help identifying
which ones may or may not be the one I am looking for would be very much
appreciated.

FIRST WHAT I KNOW

Name: Thomas Gibson
Father's Name: James Gibson
Mother's Name: Elizabeth
Birth Date: 1809 (From His MI in Massachusetts, USA)
Birth Date: 1809 (From his death record Oct 7, 1857 - MA, USA)
Birth Date: 1812 (From 1850 US Census - West Cambridge, MA, USA)
Birth Place: Scotland (From all records including children's birth records)
First Child born in the USA: December 02, 1843
Does not appear to be in the 1840 US Census (Only lists Heads of Household).
Wife Margaret born abt 1821 in Ireland (No USA or other Marriage record
located).
I have looked for but so far not identified an immigration record that I
can attribute to this Thomas (There are too many possible matches).

SECOND SOME SPECULATION

There is strong circumstantial evidence in the US and Wigtownshire to
indicate that James Gibson, Thomas Gibson's Father may have fathered
another child in Ireland as follows:

Name: Samuel Gibson
Father's name: James Gibson (Occupation: Weaver)
Mother's name: Bridget Gorman
Birth Date: abt 1797-1804
Birth Place: Ireland
Samuel emigrated to Wigtownshire before 1824 (possibly via Ayrshire) when
he was married there.

Note: I have searched Wigtownshire fairly extensively for Thomas and James
and found no matches.

and died Bef. February 09, 1868 in Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland.

+ELIZABETH HUTCHISON May 29, 1787 in Mauchline, Ayr, Scotland.
She was born Abt. 1771 in Of W Wellwood Smiddy, Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland,
and died Bef. February 09, 1868 in Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland.
AKA: Betty Hutchison
