I am looking for information on a David Underwood who I am assuming left Ayr in the mid 1800s. He sailed via the port of Exeter in UK for the Seychelles around 1850s. He was apparently working as a whaler, jumped ship off the island of La Digue, married a local girl - had several children - and ended up working as the overseer of a leper colony on the island of Curieuse.

He was my great-great-grandfather.

His mother was Anne Stewart or Steward.

Has anyone any information about him?

I'd be fascinated. Thanks
