REGISTER OF THE PRIVY COUNCIL OF SCOTLAND. Third Series. Volume V (1676 - 1678), page 584. March 29, 1678. "Lord Ross to offer the bond to the tenants of James Ross of Portive, who is in Ireland".--Warrand given to the Lord Rosse to offer the band to James Rosse of Portive his tennents, in reguard of his residence in Ireland,which band is to bear that narrative that their master is absent, and therfor they are taken oblidged for themselves.

N.B.: The "Lord Rosse" who was on the Privy Council was Lord George Ross of Hawkhead.--W.F.
