Trying to locate information on James Rafferty b. bef. 1843, probably in New York. He is the son of James and Elizabeth M. Cartney Rafferty who d. Clinton, Iowa, and mentioned in his father's will in Sept. 1879. He is the brother of John Francis Rafferty who d. 1873, Adair, Iowa, in the first robbery of a moving train by Jesse James gang. Family legend is that James was killed by cattle rustlers in Tombstone, Arizona and is buried there. I did not locate his name in the searchable Arizona genealogy index. Any other suggestions on finding information is appreciated. Unknown if married/children.
