I found some Barber County History at:
http://skyways.lib.ks.us/towns/Kiowa/history.htm
KIOWA, KANSAS - BARBER COUNTY HISTORY But there was no mention of the cattle trading company by name.
I'm not finding any success regarding the company via Google.
I did find a mention of "Erie anc Chiricaua Cattle Companies ..." mentioned in the book at the Arizona State Archives Catalog by using the AZCAT webrowser.
".Cattle raising was the main industry in the region. Ranchers with huge acreage and thousands of cattle, organized into cattle pools for the sake of economy, better protection of the herds, and the opportunity to upgrade them.
A pool captain supervised the riders of all ranchers in the pool, calves were branded according to the brand of the cow, and the business, was transacted by a vote of members of the pool as in a joint stock company. . ."
You might want to call your local library regarding an interlibrary loan for a copy of this book.

I'm not finding anymore information for H H WHITNEY or his family as I noted in my earlier posting.
---
My own Slaughter family is NOT connected with the famous AZ Sheriff John Horton SLAUGHTER who cleaned up Tombstone. However my direct SLAUGHTER family did live in the same area during the same timeframe.
---
My SLAUGHTER family connects to ATTAWAY, BELL, CARTER, PAYNE and KING; and were all living in the Bisbee-Douglas area 1908 - 1930.
Best Wishes on your WHITNEY family research.
Rachel
