I don't know anything about the Kane Station but you mentioned the Mormon ranch across the river. If that was at Lee's Ferry That was my family. James Simpson Emmett was well known. Zane Grey wrote about him in an article called, The man who influenced me most. He descibes the area amazingly. He credits Jim Emmett with his love of the desert. You can look it up on the Zane Grey website.
