Hi Janet - I don't do obituary lookups and it appears Jim N is locating the obituary for you.

I found the following information in public records.

Geraldine Marion MCBANE's death certificate, filed on 10-15-1987 declares her to be a white woman, born in Ohio on September 26th, 1920 and married to Francis MCBANE. She is shown to have died at the Coulter Village Nursing Home on October 7th, 1987 at the age of 67 where she was listed as a patient. Her residence at the time of her death was 4807 North 70th Avenue, Phoenix 85033. Her husband Francis declared that she was a housekeeper for the hotel industry and that she had been a resident of Arizona for 43 years (since about 1944). Her cause of death was pneumonia attributable to a stroke and her attending physician was Michael A. EPSTEIN, M.D., 5757 West Thunderbird Road, Glendale (medical records may still exist and possibly available to family members). She is interred at Memory Lawn Memorial Park, Phoenix and the funeral home was Memory Lawn Mortuary, 719 North 27th Avenue, Phoenix. Francis did not declare who her mother or father were, but did declare the former!
state of residence (pre 1944) was Ohio. Her Social Security number is noted but I won't post it. The death certificate was recorded on February 21, 2001 (usually as part of an Estate settlement) and Francis asked a copy of the recordation be mailed to his home address at 13240 North Tatum Boulevard, #106, Phoenix 85032. Obviously, he had given up the family home mentioned in the death certificate by this time.

I did not find Francis or Geraldine in my 1945, 1947, 1955 or 1957 Phoenix City directories but I did find them in my 1959 directory residing with one child under age 18 at 2324 South 15th Place, phone AL2-6450. Francis is listed as "Frances" E. and his wife is listed as Geraldine M. He is shown as the owner of the property, therefore tax records and property deed recordations will be found in various county records. His occupation is listed as a Inspection Officer for the State (Arizona) National Guard. As an Inspection Officer he could have been a civil service employee for the State of Arizona and therefore may have eventually been a retired employee. Former employee records may be available to interested family members.

Francis E. MCBANE is listed in the 1975 Phoenix metro phone book as residing at the same address as is noted in the 1987 death certificate. The phone number was 846-1578.

On December 4th, 1975 Francis Earl MCBANE is named on a lien with a hospital, a insurance company and another unrelated husband and wife as recorded at the County Recorder's online website. This might have been some sort of action having to do with an automobile accident with injuries. If the insurance company, hospital or lawyers handling the matter still have files, those may be available and could include additional genealogical information.

On February 16th, 2001, Francis filed a Estate Tax Affidavit with the recorders office on behalf of his wife Geraldine noting her date of death and the value of her estate. His signature is on this document as is the Tatum Boulevard address where he was living.

Also on February 16th, 2001 Francis files an executed Warranty Deed wherein he has sold the North 70th Avenue home to Hector and Maria BELTRAN. This document also includes his signature and reconfirms the Tatum Boulevard address.
