Hi Meyer – As noted in the prior post:
“It was a simple enough matter to do a search from there in the 1930 census in Colorado to where I found a likely “match” of “Melburn E.” as a 16 year old (matched the era of his date of birth according to SSDI) living with his father (Ralph J.), mother (Judith L. OR R. BERGEN), three older brothers (Ralph B. OR G. OR S. OR Jr., Henry B. [possibly Bergen], and George E.), one younger sister (Vera B. [again, possibly Bergen]) and HIS mother’s father (your other paternal great grandfather, one William H. BERGEN). Your other paternal great grandmother is not enumerated as William declares he is a widower (more on her later). You can click on the remaining attachments and study the exhibits for yourself and draw your own conclusions (due to the limitations of uploads to Ancestry I had to split the attachments into two submissions), however you can easily appreciate how important the death certificate of Milburn(e) E. MEYER will b!
e in this whole process. If the certificate says his father was Ralph J. and/or his mother was Judith, then you’ve got your first linkage to further back in time.
When you study the census attachments in this and next post you’ll note some of the family lore about your forebears being in the floral business starting to emerge. This was also one of the main clues that left me feeling confident we hopefully have the right family lineage.”
More to follow.
