I searched America's Obituaries and Death Notices on-line at the Maricopa county library web site and could not find an obit. for Gertrude Hoffmeyer. I also searched for Hoffmeyer in August & September 2003 and could not find any Hoffmeyers at all.
Nor could I find any listing for her at the Mesa Arizona Regional Family History Center obituary database at http://mesarfhc.org/.
You may want to do a search at the Maricopa County Recorders Office at http://recorder.maricopa.gov/recdocdata/GetRecDataSelect.asp?mcrs=1 to see if you recognize any of the names or find any clues.
