Norma: The oldest cemeteries in Tucson are now all covered by buildings and
concrete in downtown Tucson. Many of the graves were removed to either Holy
Hope Catholic Cemetery, phone 520-888-0860 or Evergreen Cemetery,
520-888-7470. You might try both of these to see if he is there. Also, try
Arizona Historical Society Library , 520-628-5775 open M-F 11-4 and Sat 11-1
MST. They have old city directories that go back to at least 1880 and
probably earlier. They are very helpful and will look things up for you.
The Arizona Daily Star has obituaries but I am not sure if they could find
it for you that old. The paper was in publication at that time. There
number is 520-573-4160. AZ Hist. Soc. has microfilms of the old newspapers
too but I do not know if you could get copies of them. I believe the Tucson
Citizen was also published in 1880. It is still in publication too but the
number for obituaries is the same today for both newspapers. Hope this
helps a little.
