A "family register" is a single page where three generations (father,
mother, children, and both grandparents) of each family has been
transcribed from the birth/baptism, marriage, and death records. This is
work done by the church scribe and entered into the church book. There will
be a note on the RH column of the normal church entries that refer to the
page number in the family register where this person is shown. They are
sometimes in alphabetic order, and sometimes in chronologic order. When you
see in the FHL card catalog that the village has a "Familienregister" or
"Familienbuch" in the time range you are researching, that is a good place
to start.
