Keep up the good work!! The records that are held by the library in Nassau
are the ones most in need of filming and saving! Lots of people in the
1900-1940 era left their records and collections to the library because I
assume there wasn't such a thing as the Archives. Harcourt Malcolm is an
example. He evidently left a huge collection of history, genealogy as well
as government writings to the library and no one has access to their
holdings. We were at the library in July and it is in such sad shape. Its
in the wonderful old jail right downtown but nothing is files, collections on
the floor, books missing, no airconditioning, old newspapers crumbling...very
sad.
